I have studied the piano with Mark Fitton over several periods of my performing career, firstly as a child and an adolescent, and then later in my adult performing life. I have always found Mark’s teaching style and musicianship very freeing and helpful, and in recent years he has helped me revitalise my piano technique on a basic level, which I found very rewarding. He is always encouraging and sensitive to the needs of the moment and of the larger scale musical context of my performing life. I would wholeheartedly recommend him as a piano teacher for pianists at all levels of expertise.
Mark is an inspirational teacher who takes you deep into the foundations of piano technique, at the same time helping to develop your musical ear and appreciation of the music.
I have been an adult pupil of Mark’s for a number of years and have made great progress during this time. Mark communicates his understanding of music and always explains the pieces we choose. He has a wide range of skills and exercises to develop technique. He is exacting and appreciative. I always look forward to my lessons.
Being a complete novice to the piano and music, Mark is quietly and calmly coaching me to master the piano. He has such an effective teaching style, tailored to the individual.
I've recently moved away from the immediate area but just have to make the 140 forty mile round trip, as the lessons are such fun and I so value Mark’s knowledge, experience and guidance in helping me to play effectively at my level. Thank you Mark
Having first met Mark in January 2015 I very quickly found myself to be relaxed in Mark's company whilst learning to play the piano. Mark is a very disarming gentle personality; it’s this quality along with his superb ability to teach which set him apart from other piano teachers. For all of the problems I have encountered whilst learning to play, Mark has introduced me to strategies to overcome the issues I’ve faced and all the while ensured that I’ve progressed. Even after more than 3 years learning with Mark he still surprises me with imaginative and engaging lesson and still shows endless patience and enthusiasm for my progress.
